Glamis Sand Dunes Halloween Party 2017 Recap
See info on this years event on our Facebook Page!
For those who couldn’t attend the action at the Glamis Dunes Halloween party on the 27th and 28th of October, I’m sorry to say, you missed out on one of the best motorsport events of 2017. The party is open to everyone, child-friendly, and free to attend. Here’s a recap of what went down at the Glamis Dunes Party this year.
Dune Riding
Let’s start with the common denominator for everyone reading this, the love of sand dune riding.
Glamis is one of the best known, and loved, spots for sand dune riding in the world - the attendees took full advantage of this.
Even if you weren’t up for hitting the dunes, spectating the riders at Glamis was still great – people were racing up and down Oldsmobile Hill all day.
There were countless bowls to spend the day in or, for those who were new to dune riding, there’s the Sand Highway, which is perfect for learning the ropes.
With over 40 miles of dunes, there was a spot for everyone.
Party Time
The whole weekend is, essentially, a big party at the Camp RZR village - likeminded people doing what they love.
But the closing party on Saturday capped off everything brilliantly.
After the grand prize giveaway, a firework show signified the end of the two-day event.
There was also trunk or treat on Saturday night, ensuring that no age groups were left out of the fun.
All in all, it ensured there will be plenty more ‘Sand Stories’ told at next year’s event.
Show & Shine
The Show & Shine line-up started at 1:30 pm on Saturday and was simply amazing.
The line-up was filled with some of the most spectacular and well-cared for machines you’ll likely ever see.
Hours of work, not to mention thousands of dollars, went into making these custom buggies works of art.
Show & Shine judging started at 2 pm, before the awards were given out on the main stage at 3:30 pm.
Demo Rides
This event is for everyone, not just for people who already own RZRs.
The ques were packed full of people thinking of taking the plunge and buying their first RZR, as well as current owners thinking of changing models.
There was a wide variety of machines to ride around a specially set up, closed course.
This event ran all weekend and was open to anyone over the age of 18 who hadn’t consumed any alcohol prior to driving.
Get a Service
Getting a service wasn’t the most exciting thing going on at the Glamis Dunes party but it was a welcome addition to the weekend.
You could book your RZR in for a service beforehand or wait in line if you had the time.
So, your RZR might actually have been in better condition leaving the Glamis Sand Dunes than it was going there.
Big Giveaways
There were tons of giveaways during the weekend but, without doubt, the biggest prizes on offer were 10 brand new Polaris RZRs.
All you had to do was register for the event and check in on-site for automatic entry.
This was open to any U.S. or Canadian citizen over 18 years old. Check-in closed at 4 pm on Saturday before the lucky 10 winners were announced at 7:30 pm.
There were hundreds of other prizes up for grabs over the weekend on the Wheel-O-Prizes. Everything was on offer, from parts and gear to RZR units.
All you had to do was get in line and wait to spin. And the best part was, you were pretty much guaranteed to win something.
Don’t feel too bad if you missed out on the fun this year, just make sure to get down to 2018’s event.
