Life is better on three-wheels? That’s is what the folks over at Can-Am thought when they introduced the Can-Am Spyder back on February 5, 2007.

can-am ryker 2018For those unfamiliar, Can-Am has taken a different approach to three-wheel motorcycles, instead of one wheel in the front, and two in the back, Can-Am went with two wheels in the front and one in the back. The benefit of this, is a more stable three-wheel platform which virtually eliminated the common three-wheeler complaint of easily flipping over in hard turns. The Can-Am Spyder starts at  $15,999 USD.

In order to reach the masses, and get more people on three wheels, Can-Am recently released the Can-Am Ryker with a Starting price of $8,499 USD. It comes with the same three wheel styling as its bigger brother, but with a entry level price point. But don’t let the under-10k price point fool. The Can-Am Ryker is anything but entry level.

The Can-Am Ryker comes in two models. The Ryker and the Ryker Rally Edition. Both models are packed with features such as an automatic transmissions, a vehicle stability system, and Can-Am’s tool-free UFit system

The tool-free UFit system is pretty amazing. Though not the first to create a recreational vehicle that can be tailored fit to the rider, their system is pretty ingenious. Can-Am states, the “UFit system lets you precisely position the pegs according to your height and choose the handlebar based on your preferred riding style-ensuring a truly customized riding experience”. On their website, you can enter your gender, and  height in inches or centimeters, and Can-Am will give you the recommended riding position. They will tell you the type of handlebar; short reach, drag bar, etc., and riding position 1-5.  For example, a 6ft. male’s recommendation is stock handlebars, with a riding peg position of 4.

The Ryker Rally Edition comes with some proper enhancements, that make taking the three-wheeler of the pavement a little more enjoyable. It features rally tires, KYB suspension, max mounts, handguards, structural enhancements, and three drive modes; eco, sport, and rally. The later is for gravel sliding, dune jumping fun.

An added bonus, is their 23.5 in. seat height. The low seat with the UFit system, makes for a three-wheeler that can fit a variety of people. According to Can-Am, the Ryker was designed to put the rider more into the three-wheeler vs. on top.

As you can see, Can-Am set out to create a new class of three-wheelers. According to their Senior Vice-President, thousands of people around the world have been asking for a more accessible Spyder. He is quick to point out that there is not trick or cost cutting innovations on the Ryker. They simply wanted to create a three-wheeler with “incredible value”, that looked and road great.

To take it a step further, Can-Am set out to create a better buying experience also with the utilization of Augmented Reality. Using the Ryker App, buyers can customize their Ryker with over 75,000 options to fit their style, and get a pretty accurate representation of the finish product.

With this much innovation, the Ryker is sure to be a hit for the folks over at Can-Am. It is accessible, customizable, and with their unique three-wheel design, coupled with an automatic transmission, makes it approachable for any level of rider.
