RideNow Powersports blog adventure motorcycle documentary filmmaker Sterling NorenThe last blog I talked about reconnecting with those in the industry at an expo, the last blog was on photo-journalist Alfonse Palaima, and this week I want to introduce you to documentary filmmaker Sterling Noren.

Both Alfonse and Sterling worked on the Expedition 65 film that is soon to release; I talked previously about Alfonse’s book on the journey and for the film Sterling is the director and producer.

“Expedition 65 is an adventure motorcycle journey from Cartagena, Colombia to the “end of the world” in Ushuaia, Argentina.

A 4-part documentary series chronicles the 10,000-mile/65-day adventure of 15 motorcyclists who have decided to make this dream a reality.” It is in post-production to release soon.

I own quite a few of Sterling’s films, and they bring inspiration on many levels, during the last expo I picked up his adventure documentary through Iceland.

A 60-minute documentary, “about a motorcycling paradise that is unlike anywhere else on earth with exhilarating riding through raging rivers, breathtaking fjords, and expansive lava fields. During the course of this 30-day expedition, we traveled 3,000 miles across a land forged by fire and honed by ice.”

Sterling Noren is an award-winning filmmaker who directed a feature length documentary called Run Free – the True Story of Caballo Blanco, about one man’s efforts to preserve the long-distance running culture of the Tarahumara Indians in northern Mexico.

The film was screened in over 100 cities and won many international film awards. He is a founding member of the Backcountry Discovery Routes organization and produces films and advertising for the adventure motorcycling community including GlobeRiders, Touratech, Rawhyde Adventures and BMW Motorcycles. Sterling regularly presents his films before live audiences and encourages others to live exciting lives of travel and adventure!

expedition 65, adventure motorcycle blog about the journey to the end of the worldYou may have caught his work on the Discovery Channel, Wealth TV, Amazon, Hulu or Vimeo. He has had work viewed in multiple film festivals and garnered awards (so many would fill a blog page all on their own).

His first movie I came across was Beyond The Border (Riding Solo in Mexico), a motorcycle adventure film that crosses internal as well as physical boundaries. “It’s a story of determination, discovery, and adventure set in Baja and the Sierra Madre Mountains of Northern Mexico.

Against a backdrop of violence and murder associated with the drug war, a motorcyclist (Sterling Noren) heads out on a journey to explore Mexico all alone.

He is a solo filmmaker with no support, no backup plan, and no reservations.”

From Africa to South America, Backcountry route through AZ, UT, WA and more, from the Silk Road to Iceland, Sterling Noren has lived adventure and captured it beautifully for us all to enjoy and get inspired to get out there and live in the world on two wheels!
