Motorcycles and Marvel: R.I.P. Stan Lee
The world lost a great one in Stan Lee., who pasted away at the age of 95 on Nov. 12. He is proof that with a little bit of imagination and hard work, you can accomplish great things. Since the 1940s, Stan Lee has amazed, entertained, and inspired generations.
5. The Punisher
Making his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #129, The Punisher claim to stardom is his nonchalant, “I’ll kill you attitude”. Also known as Frank Castle, he is hell bent on serving his ruthless judgement on crime. A Marine Sniper and war veteran, his motivation was the killing of his wife and children. On the cover of The Punisher: War Journals, Frank Castle is rocking a sawed off shotgun and submachine gun a top a red V-Twin.
4. Ghost Rider
Also known as Jonny Blaze, The Ghost Rider is the alter ego that comes when one makes a deal with the devil. He likes long walks on the beach and taking one’s soul. He is often depicted on his 60s style chopper. High sweeping pipes, and King and Queen seat with a high back rest and the occasional flames, and not the painted-on kind.
3. Wolverine
Everybody knows Wolverine loves motorcycles, but it’s hard to say that he favored one style or type. He has been depicted riding many, but one of my favorites is an old panhead. Ironically he doesn’t wear a helmet just like all the other marvel characters, but out of all of them, he really is the only one that could survive a fatal crash.
2. Captain America
Genetically modified, Steve Roger first appeared in Captain America #1 in 1941. No one character could inspire a generation to pick up arms against the evil Nazis the way Captain American did. His character embodied the patriotic spirit displayed by the Greatest Generation. His most famous motorcycle was a WWII WLA with a shotgun scabbard on the front forks
1. Deadpool
Last but not least is the friendly neighborhood crime fighter Deadpool. An experiment and fire gone wrong, left this super hero hard to look at. But when he puts on his red tights, rest assured he is a model citizen. Maybe that’s why so many families took their kids to see not just Deadpool 1, but Deadpool 2 in theaters. Though not technically a motorcycle, this Vespa is strikingly fitting for his character.
Bonus:
Though not sure if Stan Lee himself was a motorcycle fan, the list wouldn’t be complete without the legend on a motorcycle. Here he is the Avengers world premiere. RIP Good Sir, there will never be another like you.
