Navigating the Unknown-A Story of Desire
She may have fallen in love with the two-wheeled beauties back at the tender age of 11, but it took 20 or so years before she threw her leg over one and took on the challenge of learning to ride!
Heather Lynne Herr did precisely that and shares the story with TEAM Arizona. Join the ride through a series of YouTube shorts with Ms. Herr as she explores life on two wheels and shares her experiences while riding around Arizona and the United States.
"I was eleven, maybe twelve, walking past a dealership and I was captivated by what I saw on display in that showroom window. Someday I'd own a motorcycle. Someday I would ride."
This childhood desire took a backseat for many years. No one in her family rode, and life stepped in between-college, grad school, paying down student debt. But that first love never leaves you!
In her 30’s Heather rekindle that desire and set up achievable goals to make her dream areality. She set a twelve to fifteen-month timeline to pay down her debt and save money.
The schedule and amount were possible, and the unachievable desire became a genuinely achievable dream, "Not a lot, but enough to take the class, buy my starter bike, and some gear."Many riders come from families that ride, they often will learn early from a parent. Part of Heather’s story is that she did not grow up around motorcycles and no one in her family rides, it was a new world sparked by a passion felt at 11 years old.
It has now been years since she first threw her leg over the two-wheels of desire, and as she will say – " I’m past the point of being new!
"With that said, she is the first to tell you, she still has a lot to learn..." and a lot to experience, and that's what this series, Ms. Herr on Two Wheels, is all about. I'll be chasing down new firsts.
I'll be setting new milestones. I'll be collecting experiences and sharing those with you. The highlights and the challenges. So whether you've been riding for years, soaking up all moto things all the time, or you're just beginning to write a new chapter in your own story, I invite you to come with me as I continue my journey on two wheels."
