Just the name they have given to their adventures drew me in…Open – Explorers. I have always felt that we live in a time where the world has amazing open doors and gives an explorer so many avenues and roads to travel.

When you go to read more about them, the first explanation draws so near to the heart of the explorer, “This is who we are – two regular people without super-powers. We just have an average amount of courage and a considerable amount of curiosity.”

Daniel Rintz is a filmmaker, photographer and lifelong motorcycle-enthusiast from Dresden Germany. Josephine “Joey” Flohr is a geographer and photographer from Berlin, Germany. Travel ran through their veins and when they connected in Asia in 2010 that is when Joey found motorcycling and wow what an amazing combination of inspiration and beautiful creative travelogue works, they have created.

We have all been asked about the bikes we ride, and what is best for a grand adventure. I love Daniel’s answer to this age-old question:

“Many riders, including me, think twice about taking a hi-tech bike when riding

around the world. The chances of getting an older, simpler bike fixed in remote places

are much better…but then again, don’t older bikes break down more often?”

When he took off for his journey from Germany to New Zealand, her rode a 1982 R80GS classic and together on their adventure “Joey rides a classic Beemer and I thought I [would] try the 2007 1200GS and see how it compares.” They have created an extensive page of the “hiccups” along the way, from losing a pannier on the side of the road to changing tire after tire, speedometers stop working to gearboxes petitioning for a softer ride or “the heated grips stop working, right on time for Alaska…it is a gear heads dialoged, and for those that just enjoy seeing the life the bike takes on the adventure it will be a great page to visit for sure.

In the newly released, Somewhere Else Together, through North-, Central-, and South America and Africa. Embrace the beautiful areal and fantastic human interaction shots, they bring you along the ride through the word with a passion for adventure and gift for storytelling. Pack your bags for this incredible ride filled with beauty, danger, exploration and connect….find meaning in the chaos of life and the freedom to taste it!

A follow up film to, Somewhere Else Tomorrow, that features the travels of Europe, Middle East, Asia and Oceania. For more on these films and other short documentaries check out: www.open-explorers.com
